About Penderyn Whisky
Penderyn Whisky started in the village of Penderyn, which is located on the southern foothills of the Brecon Beacons National Park, 33 miles north-west of Cardiff. Penderyn opened a new distillery in Llandudno, Lloyd St in North Wales in May 2021, and a 3rd distillery opened at Swansea Copperworks in June 2023.
The idea for Penderyn was conceived by a group of friends (led by the landlord, Alun Evans), sitting around a pub table in The Glancynon Inn in nearby Hirwaun, who decided to re-introduce the lost art of whisky distilling to Wales. They bought an uncommissioned whisky still designed by Dr David Faraday, a relative of the famous Victorian scientist, Michael Faraday. Their dream was to create a world-class single malt whisky.
